Seasonal changes affect your body!
As has been the case since time immemorial, spring follows winter. According to Ayurveda, when spring arrives, the Kapha dosha is predominant. Throughout the winter, this dosha remained with you and accumulated in your body. With the arrival of spring, the Kapha accumulated during winter begins to liquefy and flow. This is why many people catch a cold during this period.
Early spring is similar to winter in many ways, which is why Ayurvedic advice is relatively similar. It is often recommended to get rid of this excess kapha, especially for people with a kapha physique (weight gain, spring fatigue, weariness...). During this season, we are more open-minded and feel the need to bring projects to fruition.
To cleanse oneself
Just like nature, our bodies live to the rhythm of the seasons, and the body needs to be purified after accumulating toxins throughout the winter. Indeed, during winter, we go out and move less and less, so our physical activity slows down. When Kapha is in balance, we feel its strength and stability; conversely, its imbalance causes fatigue and mental sluggishness, or even depression. That's why it's important to purify both your body and your mind.
Tips to avoid imbalances
Nutrition
- Take care of your digestive fire by eating easily digestible foods that do not tend to weigh you down.
- Eat warm and dry foods, if possible fat-free, preferably baked.
- Add spices to your diet to aid digestion (Kapha has a slow metabolism and slow digestion, favour fresh ginger, cumin, black pepper.)
- Avoid eating too many sweets, heavy, fatty foods that can form mucus.
- Avoid eating too many dairy products, meats that are heavy to digest, fat, and fried foods.
- Avoid weakening your digestive system (do not eat too much and do not snack between meals)
- Drink warm beverages to reduce toxins (especially herbal teas). Our "Je réveille mon audace" infusion will bring you balance during this season.
- Upon waking, drink a glass of hot water to cleanse your body of toxins accumulated during the night.
Activity
- Make the most of the outdoors and the first rays of sunshine
- Engage in more invigorating activities (power yoga, running, etc.)
- Continue to go to bed earlier (before 10 p.m.: Kapha cycle)
- Avoid excessive sleep (lie-ins, naps); this is the time to start a morning routine with our yoga poses that you can find every month on our Instagram account.
- Step out of your comfort zone; you can try new practices, activities, or simply new ways of doing things—be creative!
- Do not hold emotions in; let them out. It is just as important to release blocked and stored mental emotions as it is to release physical toxins.
